Maybe Kelsey Grammer was sick of filming in Chicago?
FX’s “Braddock & Jackson” – starring Grammer and Martin Lawrence as lawyers from different backgrounds who team up to practice law together – is set in Chicago but will film in the Los Angeles area, according to a spokeswoman for FX. Like “Perfect Strangers” and, more recently, “According to Jim” and “Mike & Molly,” also set in Chicago but filmed elsewhere, “Braddock & Jackson” is a multi-camera comedy filmed on a sound stage. FX has ordered 10 episodes of the series.
Grammer recently filmed two seasons of Starz’s “Boss” and the upcoming film, “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” in Chicago. It’s unlikely this played a role in the decision to shoot “Braddock & Jackson” in the LA area. The truth is sitcoms rarely venture out of LA or New York.
One exception is “Sirens,” which is set in Chicago and filmed here last year. The Denis Leary-produced sitcom premieres March 6 on USA network.
