The on-screen ladies might be hoppin' for "Five-Year Engagement" star Jason Segel, but it hasn't really been the case in real life. How do we know? He's been vocal about it -- very, very vocal. Check out our timeline of some of Segel's best quotes on his love life, up to his new romance with Michelle Williams. Warning: They may make you want to be his best friend -- or lovah.
"I just like people, if that makes any sense. If I meet a dude at a bar, I love just talking to the dude about his life or whatever. If you meet a girl and engage in that kind of conversation, it's just by nature flirting."
-- To People magazine, on his reputation as a flirt
"For me it's much more about meeting the right person. I don't have that thing that women have -- 'I've gotta be married by the time I'm 33, gotta have a kid by the time I'm 35.' Let's see where life takes me, y'know? If I met the girl, I'd marry her tomorrow."
-- To GQ
"I don't know if it's the toughest part, but it really helped with the role because I had to feel like she was above my station in life, you know? So I think that actually really helped that I'm intimidated by Emily [Blunt]."
-- To iVillage, on a previous interview in which he said the toughest part of "Gulliver's Travels" was playing someone Blunt would be attracted to.
"I had a really embarrassing moment while trying to get back a woman. I stood outside her door. We just broke up, and she came out. I had so much time to think about what to say, and all I said to her was, `I have had so much time to think about what to say. I know you want to leave me, though I refuse to let you go.' I spoke pretty much the whole of `Ain't Too Proud to Beg' by The Temptations before she finally stopped me and looked at me with pure pity and said, `It's over.'"
-- To Askmen.com
"My house is packed with puppets. Like, everywhere. Thank God I have a slightly bigger house now, so I have one room that's sort of dedicated to puppets. But for a long time I lived in a one-bedroom apartment that was just crammed with puppets. It's why I'm still single."
-- To New York magazine
"You know, I don't want to have a girlfriend for the sake of having a girlfriend. If it's gonna happen, which I assume it will at some point, it's gonna be `cause we're like awesome together. There's no reason to rush into something like that and feel dumb about it."
-- To Vanity Fair
"I think I would just very much like to be happy. That's all I'm going to say about it."
-- To "Extra," on his new relationship with Michelle Williams
"My plan is to get her to marry me as quickly as possible before she finds out who I really am. I'll do it romantic, but I'll do it like over a three-day weekend. We'll meet on Friday, have our first date on Saturday, engaged on Sunday and married on Monday."
-- To People, on his fantasy engagement (not necessarily to Michelle, people!)
