Thank you for your article on Ronald Reagan`s appearance at Wrigley Field. I have added it to my collection of Reagan-era memorabilia.

The article`s gushy sentimentality was a fitting reaction to our Entertainer-in-Chief. The feeling of sleepy comfort that it conveyed is an appropriate attitude for Americans as we drift aimlessly toward the end of our ascendancy and prosperity.

For eight years we have been charmed and entertained by our leader. I fear we will soon realize ruefully that there are more important things for a president to offer: e.g., sound economic management, diplomacy and a vision of the future.
