What a difference four years can make.
Back then, I was an entry-level nightmare. Hard-partying, ambitious and overly confident in myself considering I spent that year sleeping on my best friend's floor. What I wasn't, though, was stylish. For real, my entire thought process at the time was, "Is it clean?" "Not clean? Does it stink?" "Will this get me laid?"
It was no church in the wild for me until that fateful day when that dude from LA walked into the office and my co-worker made that comment that Chicago dudes can't dress for crap.
We created the November of Dressing Nicely as a way to demystify the concept of looking good. There's this unattainable status surrounding fashion. I get it! The job is to maintain a gap between haves and have-nots and consumerism and the invisible hand rocking the cradle of life or whatever they were teaching in econ while I was asleep in the back row.
Here's the thing though: It's about how YOU feel. How YOU choose to represent yourself. That's it and that's all.
So my message for Year 4 of #NODN to everyone? When it comes to style, make sure your clothes fit, be yourself and you're going to rule the world. Also, if you're sleeping on your friends floor, invest in a good comforter.
