Former Chicago Bears punter Brad Maynard has sold his five-bedroom, 5,971-square-foot house in Long Grove for $1.25 million.
Maynard, 39, was with the Bears from 2001 until he was released in 2011. After stints with two other teams, Maynard is out of professional football.
Maynard, who listed the house in August 2012 for $1.38 million, paid $1.43 million in 2005 for the 14-room, French Provincial-style house. Built in 2004, the home has five full baths, two half-baths, four fireplaces, Brazilian hardwood floors on the first floor, coffered ceilings, custom built-in cabinets, and a kitchen with stone floors, stainless steel Viking appliances and a large center island. The house sits on a little more than half an acre.
Maynard's listing agent, Penny Silich of Re/Max Prestige, also represented the buyer, who is not a celebrity.
"The home was in a very popular neighborhood and was in move-in condition," Silich said.
Former Santo house sells for $710,000
The longtime Bannockburn home of Chicago Cubs legend Ron Santo sold last month for $710,000. In late August, Santo's widow, Vicki, had listed the three-bedroom, ranch-style home for $719,000 and had inked a deal to sell it.
Former McDonald's exec lists mansion
Former McDonald's President and Chief Operating Officer Ralph Alvarez has listed his five-bedroom, 9,600-square-foot mansion in Hinsdale for $5.25 million.
Alvarez, who was the No. 2 executive at the Oak Brook-based restaurant giant, retired from McDonald's in December 2009, citing health reasons. In January, he became chairman of Japan-based restaurant chain operator Skylark Co.
Built in 2006, the three-story mansion has 61/2 baths, a finished lower level, vaulted and coffered ceilings, and an outdoor fireplace.
"It's the most incredible level of detail of any new construction I've seen in years," said listing agent Christopher Crawford, of Sotheby's Realty. "That's what I think enchanted the Alvarezes to move there. ... And it has an amazing backyard — it's like an outdoor living room."
