Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall: Garage-rock is alive and in shin-kicking mode in this not-to-be-missed double bill of like-minded Northern California bands. They played at roughly the same time during the Pitchfork Music Festival in July, but fans won’t have to choose which one to see on this night. Expect some collaborations, 7 and 10 p.m. Friday at Logan Square, 2539 N. Kedzie Av., $18; ticketweb.com.
Mission of Burma: Boston postpunk pioneers Roger Miller, Clint Conley and Peter Prescott are that rare band that has continued to make excellent music in the reunion phase of its career. After a two-decade hiatus, due to Miller’s hearing issues, the trio joined forces in 2002 with engineer Bob Weston and has released four top-tier albums that rank with its best work, 9 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Av., $20; lincolnhallchicago.com.
