The Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro and Jeff Samardzija were on hand for Kerry Wood’s Woody’s Winter Warm-Up fundraiser Friday at Harry Caray’s Tavern at Navy Pier, but it was former Cub Mark Prior who guests seemed most excited to see that night. And like some of the other past and present Cubs players in attendance, Prior got behind the bar and served drinks. The benefit raised $108,000 for the Wood Family Foundation.
On Thursday, Rizzo attended the karaoke fundraiser hosted by the Tampa Bay Rays’ David DeJesus at American Junkie to benefit ALS Research before heading to Parliament. Former Blackhawk Jeremy Roenick hung out at Parliament Friday and the Bears’ Henry Melton was there Saturday.
The Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane had dinner Friday at Chicago Cut Steakhouse with teammates Corey Crawford, Brandon Bollig and Nick Leddy and lunch Saturday at Rosebud on Rush with his mom and dad. Crawford was spotted Wednesday at Siena Tavern. Fellow Blackhawk Duncan Keith had lunch Wednesday at The Fifty/50, and donated an autographed jersey for the bar and restaurant’s wall. Keith dined Saturday at Chicago Cut. Jonathan Toews and teammates hung out Sunday at Bull & Bear following their win over the Boston Bruins.
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau had dinner Sunday at Chicago Cut. The Bulls’ Joakim Noah hung out Saturday at Mercadito’s downstairs lounge, Double A, following his team’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The New York Yankees Alfonso Soriano had dinner Jan. 11 at Morton’s The Steakhouse in the Near North neighborhood.
