Sheriff's police: Man sought in domestic beating

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding  a man accused of severely beating a woman this week in unincorporated Cook County near Palatine.

An arrest warrant was issued today for Joseph L. Lopez Jr., 34, of Mount Prospect, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s police.
Lopez is suspected of "severely beating'' a woman late Tuesday inside a car in a parking lot near Palatine, the statement said.
Lopez threatened to shoot police who come in contact with him and turn the gun on himself, according to the statement.

The public is warned against approaching Lopez, who police say is armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is urged to call police at 708-865-4896.
