Sandy Shinner, the longtime associate artistic director of the Victory Gardens Theater, has been removed from that position, several sources with knowledge of recent developments at the non-profit Chicago theater said.
In a telephone message, Shinner, 62, confirmed she was no longer in that job and said she was working on The Access Project, one of Victory Gardens' programs.
Shinner has worked at the theater for 33 years and has directed more than 50 productions there. She could not be reached for further comment.
Cathy Taylor, a spokesman for Victory Gardens, said that the theater would not discuss Shinner's job title, other than that she remained in the employment of Victory Gardens. Taylor said that a restructuring of the artistic department was "in process" and announcements would be forthcoming.
Victory Gardens has been going through significant personnel changes with the arrival of Chay Yew, its new artistic director.Copyright © 2015, RedEye
