Romeo Santos says he's not a dancer, Giuliana Rancic's restaurant is hiring, Haley Reinhart shops at Sofia

There’s no denying Romeo Santos can sing bachata, but the lead singer of Aventura, the self-proclaimed “Kings of Bachata,” claims dancing it is another story.

“I’m not a dancer,” Santos told me at the Park Hyatt Chicago hotel November 15. “I can only do the basic, simple steps. That I can do.”

Santos’ dance moves would be put to the test when he was invited to perform “Promise,” his bilingual duet with Usher off of his debut solo album, “Formula Vol. 1,” at the Latin Grammys. The performance required Santos and Usher to keep up with their hip-shaking partners while singing.

“(Usher) was trying to tell me he wasn’t familiar with (bachata),” Santos said. “But in rehearsal, I noticed that he danced it way better than me. The choreography was very complicated and Usher nailed it.”

Heads up: NBA superstars Dwyane Wade LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony will play four games on their upcoming “Homecoming Tour,” including one at the UIC Pavilion December 7. … “Portlandia” stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will bring their six-city “Portlandia: The Tour” to The Hideout January 18. The stars of the IFC show will perform live music and share stories and clips from the series during the show. … "Slow Jamz" rapper Twista (the first person I ever interviewed in my career, by the way) will perform during a benefit for the Phil J. Skilnik Foundation at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park Thursday.

Help wanted: If you want to work at Giuliana and Bill Rancic’s new Italian restaurant in River North, you can apply between 12-3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Paris Club. The yet-to-be-named restaurant is scheduled to open in early 2012.

Sightings: “American Idol” finalist Haley Reinhart shopped at Sofia Monday. And like most celebrities do when they visit the Gold Coast boutique, she signed one of the walls. … The Bears’s Lovie Smith and Kellen Davis dined separately at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab following their win over the San Diego Chargers at Soldier Field Sunday. … The Chargers’ Luis Castillo dined at Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse in the Gold Coast Friday and went out of his way to greet the restaurant's dishwashers and cooks. … Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich watched football at Roots Handmade Pizza Sunday.
