Rockwell to direct 'Shrek' on Navy Pier

"Shrek The Musical" is to be Chicago Shakespeare Theater's summer musical on Navy Pier, and Rachel Rockwell is to direct.

Summer shows on Navy Pier typically have abbreviated run times and a mix of daytime and evening performances. Run dates are July 13 through Sept. 1.

Chicago Shakespeare also anounced Tuesday that the rap-oriented production of William Shakespeare's "Othello," known as "Othello: The Remix" and created by the Chicago-based Q Brothers, will be staged in the Upstairs Theatre from March 12 through April 28. Developed last year, the show already has been seen in London, Edinburgh and Australia; it was part of the Cultural Oympiad in Britain last year.
