A man was arrested after stealing a semi trailer and leading police on a chase through the West Side and down the Eisenhower Expressway this morning, police said.
Officers got a call around 3:50 a.m. that someone had hitched a truck cab to a trailer in the 4600 block of West Flournoy Street and driven away, police said.
Police spotted the semi several blocks away, near Pulaski Road and Harrison Street, but it wouldn’t stop and officers followed it onto the eastbound Eisenhower Expressway and then onto Racine on the Near West Side, police said.
There were two minor crashes during the pursuit: one in the 2500 block of West Ogden Avenue and another in the 4300 block of West Ogden Avenue. Officers finally halted the truck at 13th Street and Avers Avenue around 4:10 a.m., police said.
The driver, a 46-year-old man, tried to flee but was taken into custody, police said. Charges have not been filed yet.
