Two men and a boy from Elgin are accused of stabbing and beating three people during a brawl early Friday in the northwest suburb, police said.
Adan Sandoval, 21, of the 400 block of South Edison Avenue, was charged with armed violence, a Class X felony, and aggravated battery and mob action, also felonies, according to a statement from Elgin police.
Reggie Cortez, 18, of the 900 block of Annandale Drive, was charged with aggravated battery and mob action, both felonies, the statement said.
A 14-year-old Elgin boy, whose name is not being released, is charged as a juvenile, accused of armed violence, aggravated battery and mob action, police said.
At 1:13 a.m., Elgin police responded to the area of 15 North Grove Avenue for several people fighting. Officers found three victims who had suffered stab wounds as well as other injuries, which were caused from being struck with a baseball bat, according to the statement.
The victims were taken to area hospitals where they are being treated for their injuries, according to the statement, which did not disclose their conditions, ages or genders.
Investigators from the Gang Crimes Unit and the Major Investigations Division developed information and identified the three suspects, who were brought in for questioning Friday afternoon to the Elgin Police Department, the statement said. Investigators reviewed the case with the Kane County State's Attorney's office, which then approved charges, the statement said.
The two adult suspects are currently being held in the Elgin City Jail and will appear in bond call Saturday, while the juvenile suspect was transferred to the Kane County Youth Detention Center.
