Michael Shannon will return to A Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago next season to star in a show, the actor has said.
“It’s going to be our 20th anniversary at Red Orchid next season, so I’m going to come back and do a show,” Shannon told the Tribune's Mark Caro in Los Angeles during an interview about the Film Independent Spirit Awards, where Shannon was a nominee for his work on the 2011 movie "Take Shelter." “We’ve never done Sam Shepard at Red Orchid, so we’re going to do a Shepard piece.”
Shannon plans to star in Shepard's "Simpatico," alongside Guy Van Swearingen, a co-founder of A Red Orchid, which is located in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood. Shannon, who now lives in New York, is an ensemble member of A Red Orchid and was last on stage there in 2009 for "Mistakes Were Made."Copyright © 2015, RedEye
