A judge denied bail today for a 23-year-old man accused of the 2009 slayings of a man and woman in the Northwest Side's Albany Park neighborhood.
Samuel Parsons-Salas, of the 3800 block of North Nordica Avenue, was arrested Friday and charged Saturday with two counts of first-degree murder, police announced Saturday night.
The charges are in connection with the shooting deaths of Alex Santiago, 24, and his girlfriend Angelina Escobar, 19, in the 3500 block of West Sunnyside Avenue about 1 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2009.
Parsons-Salas is the second person charged in the case. In January of 2011, Christopher Doehring was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery and two counts of home invasion. Authorities believe the pair entered the victims' apartment and made off with several possessions after the shootings.
