Jan Kallish leaving Victory Gardens

A Chicago theater that has seen a lot of staff turnover is going through more: Jan Kallish, the executive director of the Victory Gardens Theater, said Thursday that she is leaving the theater company, which operates at the Biograph Theatre in Lincoln Park. Chay Yew is the artistic director.

In an interview Thursday, Kallish said that the decision was hers. "I've come to a place where I wanted to figure out what's next for me," she said. She said she is exiting at the end of November.

Kallish said she plans to stay in Chicago. Victory Gardens will conduct a search for Kallish's successor. Meanwhile, general manager Chris Mannelli will assume Kallish's duties on an interim basis.

Kallish has been at Victory Gardens since 2009. Formerly, she was executive director of the Auditorium Theatre.
