Broadway in Chicago said Wednesday that "I Love Lucy Live on Stage" will be staged this fall at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, playing Sept 12 to Nov. 11.
The show, which premiered at the Greenway Court Theatre in Los Angeles in September, 2011, is an officially licensed production with the retro conceit that the audience is at the "Desilu Playhouse Soundstage" in 1952 attending tapings of two episodes of the classic CBS sitcom. Between scenes, advertising jingles are performed by period singers. The show is based on the original scripts of the show.
The show is directed by Rick Sparks and presented by S. Kahn Presents and the Millrock Company. Read an L.A. Times story here about the production. More information at BroadwayInChicago.com or www.ilovelucylive.com.
