Hershey Felder, currently appearing in "An American Story" at the Royal George Theatre, will adapt, direct and produce the next production at that venue. But he will not perform. The pianist-actress Mona Golabek is the solo star.
Entitled "The Pianist of Willesden Lane,' the new show from Felder's Eighty-Eight Entertainment is the story of a young Jewish pianist, set in Vienna and London, just before and during World War Two. It's based on a book penned by Golabek and Lee Cohen.
Felder said that the piece was in the same style of "musical storytelling" (Golabek both acts and plays piano) with which his audiences associate him.
Performances at the Royal George, 1641 N. Halsted St., begin Apr. 19.
