Hannibal Buress is now couch-worthy.
The Chicago comedian returned to CBS's “The Late Show with David Letterman” Monday, only this time he was invited to sit on the couch alongside Letterman rather than perform stand-up like he did in 2011. Buress has also appeared on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and CBS's "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilbourne," but always as the guest comic.
That tells you how far he's come.
During Monday's "Letterman" appearance, Buress was promoting Funny Or Die’s Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which makes a stop Aug. 31 at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park. The five minute interview covered a variety of subjects, including the name Hannibal, NBA team names, kickboxing and Buress’s health.
“I’m in awful shape,” Buress told Letterman. “I’m trying to get in better shape. My girlfriend, she’s in good shape. She gives me health tips sometimes like ‘Hannibal, you’re going to die.’ Stuff like that.”
Watch the video for yourself. I’m doing Buress no favors by putting his jokes in writing, seeing how part of his appeal is his delivery. And make sure to check out his stand up from his 2011 appearance on “Letterman.”
