Gift Theatre will stage a new play by Andrew Hinderaker in its 2012 season, the theater announced Wednesday. Entitled "Dirty" and opening in September, the play looks at an investment banker who becomes involved with hard-core pronography. Hinderaker's "Suicide Incorporated" moved from Gift to New York's Roundabout Theatre this fall. Jonathan Berry will have directed both shows.
In the spring at Gift, Sheldon Patinkin will direct the U.S. premiere of Rodney Ackland's "Absolute Hell," set in London in 1945. The cast will be almost as large as the capacity of the theater. "Aboulute Hell" starts in March.
In June, Gift's Michael Patrick Thornton will direct the Chicago premiere of Will Eno's "Oh the Humanity (and other exclamations)." This series of short plays from the author of "Middletown" will begin in June.
