Red Line service resumes with delays

Tribune reporter

CTA Red line service has resumed after smoke was spotted on the tracks this afternoon at the Lake Street stop, officials said.

Chicago Fire Department officials were called to the Lake Street stop shortly before 4:30 p.m., officials said. After they responded they determined that there was no fire, according to fire department officials.

People waiting at the station were removed while officials investigated and trains bypassed the station for a short time, officials said.

The northbound train service was running above ground between Fullerton and the Cermak-Chinatown stop but service was restored, CTA officials said. According to the Website there were significant delays.
