A former Chicago real estate developer who converted hotels in Chicago, Miami Beach and other cities into condominium-hotels was arrested today on federal tax evasion charges, authorities said.
Robert D. Falor is accused in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury Tuesday with failing to pay more than $1.75 million in taxess between 2004 and 2007.
Falor, who lives in Chicago but formerly lived in Glencoe, is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Friday morning.
In the condo-hotels, individual guest room would bve sold to investors as condo units and rented by a related hotel management company to guests when the owner was not in residence. Falor operated multiple ventures of that kind including the Blake Hotel, 500 S. Dearborn St.
