Police say a man shot and killed his wife, then turned the gun on himself in their home in Park Forest.
Relatives had heard Tajuanna Davis, 32, and her husband Gerard Jimerson, 33, arguing before shots rang out around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Todd Street, according to police.
An autopsy conducted today ruled Jimerson's death a suicide and Davis' death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Davis and Jimerson were both lying on the floor of their bedroom with gunshot wounds to the head, police said. They were discovered by their daughter, authorities said.
"Based upon early investigation, [the shooting] appears to be a murder-suicide," police said in a release.
The two were pronounced dead at the scene at 1:48 a.m.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force was investigating the deaths with Park Forest Police.
