A homeless man found outside early today on the Northwest Side died in part from hypothermia, authorities said.
Jerzy Tarkowski, 60, died of hypothermia and cold exposure, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which performed an autopsy today.
A secondary cause of death was listed as alcohol intoxication and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.
Tarkowski, who the medical examiner’s office said was homeless, was found outside in the 5500 block of West Belmont Avenue and was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, according to the medical examiner's office.
Tarkowski is one of at least five people whose deaths involved cold exposure this winter season, authorities said.
