• Police shot and killed a gun-wielding man after responding to a call of a domestic dispute in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side early Thursday morning, authorities said. An officer shot the 58-year-old man after he refused to drop an "automatic assault weapon," police said in a statement. He died at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. • An inbound Milwaukee West Line train fatally struck a person in west suburban Bensenville this morning, officials said. Train 2218 struck the person, identified only as a female, around 7:35 a.m. at Center Street near the train depot, according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller. Read more
• Two people were wounded in separate South and West side shootings overnight, police said. A 27-year-old man was shot as he stood on a sidewalk in the 9200 block of South LaSalle Street in the Princeton Park neighborhood about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, police said.
