A 49-year-old Palatine cab driver has been sentenced to 30 months probation for molesting a woman who had hired him to drive her home from a bar, prosecutors said.
Mohammed N. Choudry, of the 100 block of Sterling Avenue, pleaded guilty in Rolling Meadows branch court Oct. 10 to criminal sexual abuse. Judge Ellen Mandeltort also issued a five year order of protection for the 24-year-old victim and fined Choudry $1,100.
Choudry was arrested in February of 2012 after he picked the woman up at Durty Nellie's, a popular Palatine bar. He drove her to a cash station where she withdrew money and then passed out in the cab, prosecutors said. When she woke up, the cab was in a parking lot in Rolling Meadows and Choudry was fondling her, prosecutors said. She gave Choudry $20 for the fare, escaped and called police, prosecutors said.
Choudry also was ordered to perform 15 days of community service.Copyright © 2015, RedEye
