If you followed Kelsey Grammer’s time in the Chicago area filming Season 2 of cable network Starz’s “Boss,” you likely know the five-time Emmy-winning actor had his wife’s name tattooed on his hip in April at Insight Studios in the Noble Square neighborhood and that he was a regular at Spacca Napoli Pizzeria in Ravenswood.
But where else did Grammer and his co-stars hang out before the shoot, which began in March, wrapped Tuesday?
When they weren’t filming interior scenes at Cinespace Film Studios on the West Side or on location at City Hall, Lewis University Airport in Romeoville, Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, The Wit hotel in the Loop and The Drake hotel in the Gold Coast, the cast took advantage of the city’s night life and tourist attractions.
Grammer, who plays fictional Chicago mayor Tom Kane on the political drama, and his wife Kayte celebrated their baby shower at Drumbar in the Raffaello Hotel in June with co-stars Kathleen Robertson (“90210”), Sanaa Lathan (“Love & Basketball”) and Jonathan Groff (“Glee”). In April, Grammer visited The Ledge on Willis Tower’s 103rd floor and shopped at upscale pet boutique Tails in the City in the Gold Coast.
He also made time for appearances, including at the grand opening of the Davidoff cigar lounge at the Humidor of Westmont in May and the Hugo Television Awards at the Radisson Blu Aqua hotel in April, where he received the Career Achievement Award.
Lathan was spotted multiple times at The Underground, which is where some of the cast headed after the wrap party July 7. She also had dinner with Tyrese Gibson, who is not part of the show, at Japonais in May and attended the Starlight Children’s Foundation Midwest’s Gala with Robertson at The Standard Club that same month.
Rapper-turned-actor T.I. was in Chicago much less than the rest of the cast to film his recurring role as a former gang member with City Hall aspirations, but he did stop by Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse in River North for lunch in April. Groff, who, like Lathan and T.I., is a newcomer to the show this season, visited the Museum of Contemporary Art in April with rumored boyfriend Zachary Quinto (“Star Trek”).
Season 2 of “Boss” premieres Aug. 17.
