Nine people were taken to area hospitals in good condition following the crash of a CTA bus on North Lake Shore Drive in Uptown this afternoon, officials said.
The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. when the driver of a No. 147/Outer Drive Express bus swerved to avoid an accident but hit a light pole, said CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski, citing preliminary information.
Nine people were taken in good condition to area hospitals from the crash at 4400 North, near Montrose Avenue, according to the Chicago Fire Department's news office.
The bus driver swerved when a vehicle in front of the bus stopped suddenly, Hosinski said.
The driver was not among those requesting to be taken to a hospital, Hosinski said.
