Hey, event organizers: You need to get this brilliant new app

Live event networking is a tech trend that no event organizer can afford to ignore. At the cutting edge of this phenomenon is Wavework, a startup mobile app that’s fast becoming the go-to live networking tool for event planners and sponsors. By facilitating real-time, location-specific professional networking, Wavework is a one-stop, 360-degree solution for organizers seeking to both boost turnout and engage attendees.

‘Wavework’ what now?

Wavework is the brainchild of 15-year hospitality veteran Jessica Gaffney. During her work with an upper-level sports and entertainment clientele, she realized that their greatest need — to know which of their fellow top executives were also attending a given event and what business opportunities existed among them — wasn’t being addressed by any existing technology. In response, she developed Wavework, which launched earlier this year.

Designed to connect like-minded individuals at events ranging from ball games and fashion shows to concerts and conventions, Wavework is revolutionizing networking by seamlessly blending business with pleasure. Using geofencing, this socially innovative app allows users to “see” one another within a given event space.

Free and quick to download and use, Wavework users set up a personal profile (name, title, company, industry, etc.) and then “check in” on the app upon arrival at an event. They can then learn who else is checked in, search their profiles, interact with anyone who seems interesting, and, thanks to the app’s easy note-taking and message archiving, keep in touch afterwards.

Powering your event

The app’s November update will be a professional networker’s dream. Wavework is a boon for event planners and sponsors, offering end-to-end benefits including invitation, promotion and even ticketing before, real-time engagement during, and comprehensive analytics after an event.

By making Wavework available as a complimentary value-added service to attendees, event organizers can boost numbers by creating an enhanced experience. The app allows organizers to interact with more people more effectively — and to remain in contact after the event, either through the app or directly via email.

Pre-event, Wavework will offer registration capability (and a sneak peek at who else will be attending). At the event, organizers and sponsors will be able to talk to attendees in real time through the app, including communicating pertinent information such as Wi-Fi passwords, point-of-contact for assistance, agendas and speaker bios. And if there’s a problem, Wavework provides a way to directly explain it to attendees. To further boost event and brand awareness, content from the app’s event feed can also be shared to social media.

Wavework will offer the option to conduct real-time surveys to gather feedback on an ongoing presentation, for instance, and to hold silent auctions or make donations. For a personal touch, organizers can direct-message guests. Whereas event planners could previously get feedback only after the occasion, Wavework will now allow them to gather reactions and respond as the event unfolds.

Wavework is beneficial to sponsors, too, who can identify and connect with targeted audiences before, during and after events like never before, with the ability to post calls to action, engaging questions and valuable promotions on the in-app feed.

A robust event-management platform with unique in-the-moment capabilities, Wavework is innovatively elevating social gatherings to invaluable professional networking opportunities and is aiming to be available at all events imminently.

Now’s the time to jump on it.
