Like most people, I applaud many of the changes being made in Washington because my taxes are too high, the federal budget should be balanced and those who can work should.

But the Child Care Food Program is in danger of being wiped out and that’s where I, as a working parent, draw the line.

The food program is a tremendous help to working parents and their families. Kids in child care with providers who participate in the program get healthy meals in a safe environment at an affordable price. Since Congress wants to block-grant the CCFP, the program will likely lose all or most of its funding, which will force child-care rates up more than $700 a year per child. I can’t afford that, and neither can you!
