The Chicago Public Library will feature a theater production of “Women on the Road to Freedom,” starring writer/performer Bisola Marigany.

The show interprets the lives of abolitionists Sojourner Truth and Mary Ann Shadd.

Truth, who died in 1883, was the first African-American woman orator to speak out against slavery.

Shadd, who died in 1893, was a proponent of abolition, equal rights and women’s suffrage.
